Anger reduces the pumping capacity of the heart by between 5 and 7 percent. People who get angry often are putting themselves at greater risk of health problems and so as much as it is in your interests generally to reduce anger, it is really in the interests of your own health as well.

A certain level of anger is not bad as it allow us to defend the weak, ward off attack and act with passion/conviction. It becomes an issue when the emotion is frequent with little logical thought.

The state of anger is an emotional trance state. Similar to hypnosis, an angry person can have a locked, narrow focused state of attention. This is one of the reasons hypnotherapy works so very well for helping you overcome your anger – we can work on a similar level to the anger trance itself to break it down.

When you are very angry it is difficult to have any real levels of clear thought. People who experience more levels of anger than others are actually more likely to die young than those who smoke or have high cholesterol or blood pressure.
