Anxiety and Panic Attacks

I can work with you and show you how you can overcome anxiety with hypnotherapy. If you suffer from panic attacks, these can also be deconditioned so that your body can learn to respond in a new, calm way. Please find further information below and if you would like to discuss more or book an appointment then contact me via the details on the contact page.

Anxiety

We evolved to be anxious for reasons of survival. Anxiety and nerves kept us alive. Now, our world is far more complex. It is a world where such anxiety and nerves are not quite as beneficial for us in certain situations and circumstances. A little bit of stress improves performance and memory but the anxiety can become an issue when it tips over a level which is helpful.

In times of high emotion, we learn in a special way. For survival reasons, this is great because it means that these situations can be recognised and avoided/approached more carefully in the future. However, if we are highly anxious in situations which are not life-threatening to us, such a presentation or meeting, then we can ‘learn’ to become frightened to similar surroundings or circumstances of the original situation. It can create a faulty pattern match for future similar situations. When you work with me, I can show you how hypnotherapy is great for allowing you to ‘unlearn’ such patterns so that the anxiety no longer becomes an issue.

Panic Attacks

A panic attack is a sudden discrete period of intense anxiety and terror. It is the highest level of anxiety also known as the ‘fight or flight response’.

A panic attack is not really an attack as such. Nothing is attacked. It is the body’s natural alarm system going off at the wrong time. It’s a bit like a faulty burglar alarm that keeps going off inappropriately and at the wrong times when there is no real threat. Working with me, I can show you how hypnotherapy can be used so that faulty alarm can be fixed to only operate in times of real threat.
